Understanding Your Tax Bill

Be an Informed Taxpayer

Please read your tax bill when you receive it. Specific information about your property is printed on the front, and general information about taxes and procedures are on the back. Even if you have a mortgage, and the mortgage company is escrowing for taxes, you owe it to yourself to be informed about your real estate taxes.|

The top half of the bill is the information section. It contains the total property taxes for current year and, the preliminary taxes for the next year, deductions, the assessed value of the property and your portion of the State Aid the Borough is receiving. Taxes are calculated by multiplying the assessed value by the current years’ tax rate.

On the bottom half of the bill is the tax stubs for the quarterly payments. The two (2) stubs on the bottom represent the final half of the current year and the two (2) stubs on the top are the preliminary billings for the next year.
